President Barzani receives joint delegation from Western Kurdistan

The President of the Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani received a joint-delegation from the National Council in Western Kurdistan, the Kurdish Movement and the Democratic Society. The delegation included the leaders of the political parties, as well as senior members.

The meeting started with President Barzani stating that the Kurdish people are transpiring through a sensitive stage and requires all Kurds to unify as the threats are not to one religion or to one political party, but it is a threat to all Kurds. Barzani praised the actions of the international coalition and stated, “these terrorists were able to defeat the army of two, but they were defeated in front of the Kurdish people, so it is important that we show the world unity, leaving aside differences, and defend the dignity of our people together and our land, this is the duty of all of us.”

Well into the meeting, the delegation called on Barzani to solve the problems of the Kurdish parties in Western Kurdistan, and implement a strategy for the future of Western Kurdistan. Barzani stressed that every single person that stands against ISIL appreciates any resistance against them, “the triumph of Kurds is a victory for all of us” and, Barzani acknowledged the role of the international coalition defending Kobane: “there is no difference between Erbil and Kobane, what we did to protect Erbil we can to protect Kobane....The protection of Kobane needs concrete steps and increased cooperation of the international coalition needs to unite our effort”

Sheikh Taher of the Kurdish National Assembly expressed his thanks to President Barzani, but also urged Barzani to provide more support to Western Kurdistan. Both sides expressed their willingness to unite.
