British Defence Minister Michael Fallon on Friday 7th November received in London, Masrour Barzani, The Chancellor of the Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC), in a meeting to discuss the current political climate in the region.
During the meeting, Minister Fallon praised the sacrifices and victories of the Kurdish Peshmerga, and that there is no political reason not to support them, adding that [British government] now supports Peshmerga militia with heavy weapons at the earliest opportunity and to provide them with advanced equipment.
The meeting also noted the successful visit to Kurdistan, stressing that the Kurdistan region is now a major focus for the fight against terrorism, and steadfastness of Kurdish forces Peshmarga and the people of Kurdistan.
Minister Fallon reiterated that Britain would not abandon the people of Kurdistan, and stand united with the Peshmerga to eliminate terrorism.
For his part, Mr Barzani thanked Mr Fallon for the cordial reception and expressed thanks on behalf of the Kurdish people to Britain for all their support, assistance and cooperation provided by the British forces to confront the terrorists.
Mr Barzani pointed out that Islamic State militants threatens not only Kurdistan, but threatens all free people in the world, and it must intensify international help to defeat terrorism, stressing that the people of Kurdistan and the valiant Peshmerga sacrificed their lives on behalf of the free world to fight terrorism, the only region that defeated terrorism are the people of Kurdistan and Peshmerga and heroes, and the international coalition prompt sending heavy weaponry to defeat terrorist menaces.
