British consul in Kurdistan says UK government will continue to support region against militants

IN a meeting with the British Consul-General in Kurdistan, Angus McKee, Hemin Hawrami expressed his thanks toward the support of the UK government for their support in the region’s ongoing battle against Islamic State militants in northern Iraq.

The head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s foreign relations office praised the British role of providing humanitarian aid and relief efforts for the internally displaced civilians as a result of conflict across the country and for their military assistance, stepping up training of Kurdish Peshmerga as they took the first UK-provided heavy weaponry into battle.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the political and further military developments in Kurdistan, and the KDP’s viewpoint in the alleviation of terrorism. Mr Hawrami noted on other areas of Iraq and hoped that the Iraqi government to fly those areas of the terrorists.

Mr McKee spoke intrepidly of Peshmerga and said they courageously fronted against terrorism, adding the British government will continue its support to eliminate terrorism.
