Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil praises Peshmerga victories in war against ISIS

At a meeting to discuss the latest political and military developments in the Kurdistan Region, Hemin Hawrami received the Islamic Republic of Iran’s consul-general in Erbil, Murtazza Abbadi and his accompanying delegation.

Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Head of Foreign Relations Office, Mr Hawrami praised the role of support Iran has played and stressed on the dangers of terrorist organisation Islamic State, adding Kurdish Peshmerga are fighting them on behalf of the free world,

On his part, the Iranian consul-general hailed the role of Peshmerga forces and hope for continued success in the climate of the battle against militants, stating that his country takes the threats seriously and as the terrorists target everyone, the regional countries must play their efficient role in fighting them.

The two sides also stressed strengthening bilateral political, cultural and economic relations as well as protecting mutual interests.
