Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani headed for Germany on Thursday to take part in the 51st Munich Security Conference where world leaders will discuss global issues, including the war in Iraq and Syria and the refugee crisis it has provoked.
Mr Barzani, who is heading a delegation, is expected to deliver a speech on the political and security situation in Kurdistan and Iraq, and meet world leaders on the sidelines of the three-day conference that began on Friday, 6 February 2015.
Around 20 heads of state, 60 foreign and defence ministers and other high-ranking government officials will also be participating at this conference including US Vice President Joe Biden who is scheduled to meet Mr Barzani for talks to discuss the current developments on the ground in Kurdistan and victories by Peshmerga forces.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is hosting the world leaders, confirmed she would also be meeting with Mr Barzani.
