In an interview with Kurdish news network, Rudaw, on the sidelines of the security conference in Munich, Massoud Barzani said his meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel was, “very fruitful and Germany pledged further military support for Kurdistan and the Peshmerga,”
The Kurdistan Region president also described his meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abbadi and said it focused on the mutual cooperation between Erbil and Baghdad including talks on reaching a solution to resolve the outstanding issues between the two sides.
Mr Barzani, who attended the Munich conference on international peace and security, said that "one drop of the blood of the martyrs of the Peshmerga, is the most worthy of all the treasures of the Earth".
Barzani last Friday met with former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and discussed the latest political and security developments in the Kurdistan as Peshmerga forces are fighting battles with the Islamic State.
