Hemin Hawrami received the new German Consul-General to Kurdistan, Dieter Lamle, in Erbil for talks on the current political developments and bilateral relations between the region and Germany.
KDP’s Head of Foreign Relations, Mr Hawrami began with congratulating Mr Lamle on his new role, wishing him success, at the same time expressing his appreciation toward the German government for their prolonged support for Kurds and providing military assistance to Peshmerga forces in the battle against terrorists.
Mr Dieter said Germany was “saddened by the losses of civilians and appreciated the sacrifice made by Peshmerga” in defending all communities regardless of ethnic and religious background. He said his country will provide continuous military support and will aid in further logistic ammunition for the Peshmerga as it is the only force on the ground fighting the Islamic State militants.
Regarding the security conference held in Munich last week, Mr Hawrami says that President Massoud Barzani’s participation was recognition that Peshmerga is the only force fighting against ISIS on the ground and an acknowledgement by the international community they are stabilising peace.
The latest attack on Kirkuk and other fronts were discussed, where Mr Hawrami asked that we need more support and weapons to weaken and destroy ISIS, and ongoing talks of the Peshmerga’s courage is not enough, they need advanced weapons to out-gun ISIS and force them out of the region and put end to this barbaric and devilish ideology.
