The Chancellor of the Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) Masrour Barzani said during a meeting with the British Prime Minister David Cameron’s representative to Kurdistan, General Simon Maial, “Britain should play a greater role and stress it should take a forward role in the international coalition against Islamic State terrorists,” and called for the provision of heavy weapons and armoured vehicles to the Peshmerga.
General Maial said of the demands for more arsenals to the region has been taken into account by the British government. He clarified that in the coming weeks that military supplies will be provided as necessary, saying “politically and as your friends from London, we are committed to supporting and assisting the Kurdistan Region.”
Mr Barzani highlighted the achievements already made by Peshmerga forces and emphasised the progress, such as recapturing lost ground to ISIS militants in key towns across northern Iraq and Syria but under considerable pressure on a large scale of limited resources and humanitarian crisis.
