Political secretary of Canadian Embassy in Ankara: Admiration shown for courageous Peshmerga

Hemin Hawrami received the political-secretary of the Canadian ambassador to Turkey, Andrew Webb and his accompanying delegation for talks on the political climate in the Kurdistan Region.

 

Mr Hawrami, the head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s foreign relations office, expressed his condolences to the visiting delegation for the death of a Canadian soldier who was killed in friendly fire before thanking the government of Canada for their support toward the Kurds and Peshmerga forces in the battle against Islamic State militants.

 

For his part, Mr Webb praise the courage of Peshmerga for achieving victories in recapturing key towns across northern Iraq and stressed his country will continue to provide support, military and humanitarian assistance for the Kurdistan region.

 

Both sides concluded the meeting emphasising on strengthening bilateral relations between Kurdistan and Canada.
