Chancellor Barzani receives Ambassador to Iraq and Jordan

The Chancellor of the Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC) Masrour Barzani received the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq and Jordan, Bruno Saccomani, at a meeting which discussed key developments taking place in the areas of security, military and humanitarian aid as well as political and economic relations between the two sides.

Mr Barzani emphasised on the importance of joint-military action in the war against Islamic State terrorists that Peshmerga forces are currently battling on the ground on behalf of the free-world. He said, "We are friends, and partners, and we must work together to defeat terrorism and strengthen bilateral relations between Kurdistan and Canada."

For his part, Mr Saccomani expressed his satisfaction with the progress achieved in the region and said such achievements is reason for pride, and in particular, Canada looks forward to working with Kurdistan to boost ties at all levels and wishes to enhance its relationship with the Kurdish government.
