Hemin Hawrami briefly discussed the current security situation throughout the Kurdistan Region at a meeting with a delegation from the Swedish Folke Bernadotte Academy agency for Peace, Security and Development.headed by Joel Ahlberg
Mr Ahlberg expressed his pleasure of visiting the region and described how satisfying it is to see Kurdish people being tolerant and living in coexistence.
They emphasised on the injustices faced by the Kurds in their own homeland and appreciated that after the struggles on Mount Sinjar, Kurds have "opened doors" for affected civilians to live in safe-zones.
The Kurds have been part of the Iraqi national reconciliation and patiently awaiting for amendments to Article 140 of the constitution to be implemented. Mr Hawrami said, "We have played a pivotal role and will continue to do so in reconciling with Iraq and follow security measures to eliminate all threats to Kurdistan and Iraq, this is our strategy and priority."
