A representative of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Foreign Relations Office, Mr Amir Grgies head of European desk visited Sweden to participate at the peace and security conference to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the KDP and the ruling party in Sweden.
Mr Grgies conversed with participants at the conference, organized by the Swedish Folke Bernadotte Academy, regarding the political situation in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, oil and gas disputes. Included in the debate, were representatives from the Sunni and Shia communities, and members of Kurdistan and Iraq’s parliaments respectively.
Delegates focused on how to improve the security situation in the region, fight corruption and to promote peace between all communities.
Mr Grgies held a separate meeting with Mr Joel Ahlberg, project manager for the Department for Policy Research and Development for talks on the current situation in Kurdistan where he thanked the organisation for their assistance in the region and the work they do to achieve peace and security.
Mr Grgies visited the Swedish parliament and met with various parliamentarians from different parties. He also held talks at the Kurdistan National Association in Sweden-KRF (Kurdiska Riksörtbundet Sverige).
At the Swedish National Parliament (Riksdagen), Mr Grgies met with the chairman and vice-chairman of the Sweden-Kurdistan Network in the Swedish Parliament. Meeting separately with numbers of the Social Democratic Party's members and Social Democratic politicians.
To conclude his trip, Mr Grgies met Mrs. AnnMåwe, The Deputy Director, Head of Department Eastern Middle East and North Africa at the Swedish Foreign and Affairs Ministry
