Head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office Hemin Hawrami received the Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kurdistan Mr Dieter Lamle.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest political and military developments in the region, relations between Erbil and Bagdad and ways of resolving the outstanding problems between the two parties.
Hawrami thanked the German government on behalf of the Kurdistan Democratic Party leadership for its assistance and support for the Kurdish people in the war against terrorism, and he stressed that this war that is waged by the Kurdish people for peace and democracy in the world.
The German Consul General stressed his country's continuous support for the Peshmerga and Kurdish people until victory is achieved. He pointed out that training and military aid would be a key implement of his government's strategy, and he thanked the KDP’ FRO for the warm reception and exchange of views.
Since the Kurdish Peshmerga began battling against terrorists, the German government has conducted numerous military training and has donated substantial armaments.
Germany established their consular services in the Kurdistan Region in February 2009.
