Hemin Hawrami received Sokol Kondi, Head of United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) in Erbil for talks on the refugee crisis in the Kurdistan region and the budget cuts by the Iraqi government.
Mr Hawrami, Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party's Foreign Relations Office, expressed his thanks to Mr Kondi for the assistance UNAMI provides in Kurdistan.
For his part, Mr Kondi said the UN are grateful for the efforts of Kurdistan Regional Government dealing with the refugee crisis which saw a number of internally displaced people migrating to Kurdistan from Iraq as a result of ongoing conflict.
On current the political aspect, the UN would encourage all parties who are part of the national coalition to reach a consensus on the issue, further adding in this difficult time all parties need to recognise their obligation to the people for guarantee security.
M r Hawrami, added that KDP has given up most of its share in the KRG and Iraqi federal government allocations for sake of national unity and thrived to reach a national consensus on all issues, also formulated a method to achieve an agreement between different parties in the interest of Kurdistan.
He also pointed to the letter from President Massoud Barzani, the KRG and Parliament regarding the Presidential election stressing that the President will work according to state law and the election issue has become the responsibility of the Electoral Commission and political parties.
Parties need to show restraint from hasty decisions and wait the outcome of the newly appointed constitution committee to introduce new draft constitution to deal with those issues.
