Secretary of the Political Bureau receives Italian Consul General to Kurdistan

The Politico Bureau Secretary of the Kurdistan Democratic Party Fadhil Mirani received the Italian Consul-General to Kurdistan Carmelo Ficarra at a meeting for talks on the political climate, the security situation in the region and the ongoing tensions between KRG and Baghdad's central government.

Mr Mirani emphasised on the Kurdish Peshmerga's role in the battle against Islamic State terrorists where they have been scoring a significant number of victories in eliminating Isis from northern Iraq. He stressed that the Peshmerga are fighting on behalf of the international community and defending high values of freedom and humanity, calling on the rest of the world to provide more military support, while conveying his thanks to the government of Italy for their assistance over the past 12 months.

On the Kurdistan Parliamentary sitting on 23 June, Mr Mirani said it had a reverse-compatibility and it was not permitted for them to show bias when addressing important issues and making decisions without the largest bloc of representatives. He also said that attempts are underway to prepare a formula to resolve the problems in a consensual way to rid the impasse that's causing tensions to Kurdistan citizens.

For his part, Mr Ficarra thanked Mr Mirani for the meeting and praised the heroics and courage of Peshmerga also the steadfastness of the Kurdish people for bearing the circumstances in the region and stressed Italy wil, continue providing support to Kurdistan.
