German Christian Democratic Party praises role of President Barzani and the Kurdistan Democratic Party

BERLIN, A Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) delegation headed by Hemin Hawrami and consisting of Members of Kurdistan Parliament met with the German Christian Democratic Party (CDU) as part of their tour in Germany.  The KDP delegation thanked the CDU for their invitation, which allowed those present at the meeting to discuss the latest political and military developments in the Kurdistan Region. The delegation also thanked the CDU for their support of Pershmerga forces, especially for military and humanitarian aid.

 

Representing the CDU, Bertil Wenger, the current Director of the CDU’s International Office, offered extended greetings from Angela Merkel to President Barzani, and emphasised on the strategic role of the KDP in the region. Wenger also expressed his desire to further develop relations between the two parties.

 

On the same day, the KDP delegation met Dr. Gerhard Wahlers, the Deputy Secretary General of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) to discuss the developments in Kurdistan, and the Middle East.

 

The KDP delegation ended their day by meeting with Michael Hennrich, the current head of the German-Arabic parliamentary Group.
