KDP Delegation meets with German political representatives

BERLIN, The second day of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s delegation’s, which is led by Hemin Hawrami the head of KDP’s FRO, visit to Germany, included several meetings with various key German political representatives.

The delegation held a meeting with Dr. Guido Steinberg, a senior fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs, where they discussed the on-going conflict in Iraq, and Kurdistan, along with the political tensions between Erbil and Baghdad – highlighting the strategies of the KDP on how to best deal with the current predicament. The delegation also hoped to strengthen the relationship with the German Institute to help with Kurdistan’s state building.

The KDP delegation also met with Volkmar Klein, a Member of German Parliament. The delegation thanked the German Parliament for their role towards helping Kurdistan. Klein expressed the importance of humanitarian assistance.

Another meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with Beate Bidenbach, and Marie-Therese Strauss, whom both represent the German Foreign Office’s Middle East Division (Iraq). During the meeting they discussed the political situation in Kurdistan, and Iraq, as well as the current conflict, where the delegation expressed the need for further military assistance for the Peshmerga.

The day ended with a meeting with German MP Roderich Kiesewetter, where they discussed the political tensions between Erbil and Baghdad.
