LONDON, Hemin Hawrami, the head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office, visited the Conservative Party’s headquarters in London, and was received by Ms Philipa Broome, the International Director for the Conservative Party.
During the meeting, Ms Broome welcomed the delegation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, emphasising on the development of bilateral relations between the two parties.
For his part, Mr Hawrami thanked Ms Broome for the warm reception and forwarded a message of congratulations from Kurdistan Region’s President Barzani for the Conservative Party’s overwhelming victory in the UK’s last election, and also for supporting the people and the government of Kurdistan in its war against terrorism. Hawrami also noted that this is the second time that the Conservative Party has provided support for the Kurds, the first in 1991.
Hawrami stressed the importance of closer ties between the two sides and requested more aid to Kurdistan’s Peshmerga forces in its war against ISIS. He also asked the British to open a hospital in Kurdistan, or to transfer wounded Peshmerga that cannot be treated in Kurdistan, to a hospital in Britain.
To conclude the meeting, Hawrami explained the latest political and military developments in the region, and the relations between Erbil and Baghdad. Ms Broome confirmed that the government is considering how to provide further support for Kurdistan’s Peshmerga forces.
