President Massoud Barzani: if we do not reach any consensus, we must plan towards early elections.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficial, the Merciful.

On 29 June 2015, I announced in a message to the people of Kurdistan concerning the political parties that they should reach a consensus before 20 August 2015 and if they cannot compromise in time, I will declare my position.

It has become clear that the parties did not come to terms of any consensus and yet, some are still insisting on a coup on the situation, and they have their own special projects for fabricating a crisis without having a solution to resolve any problem that may occur or to protect Kurdistan, so I find it necessary to announce to you, loved ones, about the current political crisis in Kurdistan.

Kurdistan has fought for freedom, democracy and justice, and after the uprising in Koysinjak, on 5 March 1991 at a large rally I announced to the people that the province must choose its official institutions through electorates and place revolutionary legitimacy constitutionally.

I was one of the first to call for the establishment of democratic elections, and is a call that I am proud of, so I will exemplify my position to enable us out of this crisis:

First; impositions of opinion to resolve the problems will not succeed, neither will methods of coup attempts be accepted. 

Second; the need to work quickly and by all participating in the government and political parties to reach an agreement based on the principle of a consensus and come to a conclusion of general interest to the homeland and the people.

Third; if we do not reach any consensus, we must plan towards early elections.

At the end of my message, I confirm that we must always be faithful to preserve the unity of the people of Kurdistan and Iraq and we always safeguard the right of the fate of the people of Kurdistan and ensure a better future for our people.

I call upon the people of Kurdistan to be always aware not to allow anyone to manipulate their fate.
