Hawrami: A president elected by the peoples vote will support democracy and provides assurances on their rights

The Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office (KDP FRO) Mr Hemin Hawrami received Mr Charles Davis, Political Adviser of the British Embassy to Iraq.

At the meeting, Mr Hawrami welcomed Mr Davis and expressed appreciation on behalf of the KDP for the British government and its people, for supporting toward the Kurds in its fight against terrorism before moving on to discuss the Kurdistan presidency disputes where all political parties are debating an extension – negotiations are expected to officially to the term of the incumbent Massoud Barzani.

Mr Hawrami reaffirmed the KDP’s position on the issue that it prefers to hold a consensus and adhere to democracy to allow the public get to cast their votes to decide on a presidential candidate.

On the other hand he pointed Hawrami suggestions and the Kurdistan Democratic draft decision on the issue of the presidency of the region underlined the insistence on reconciliation

Mr Davis thanked the government and the people of Kurdistan in fighting to defeat terrorism and the defence of democracy, while stressing the importance of the democratic experience in Kurdistan and insisted parties dissolve the differences and reach national reconciliation.
