British Consul General to Kurdistan praises courage of the Peshmerga and steadfastness of the Kurdish people

Hemin Hawrami, head of Kurdistan Democratic Party's Foreign Relations Office received the British Consul General to Kurdistan Mr Angus Mckee and Baleka Bhasin political advisor  of the consulate, during a meeting that highlighted the latest political and military developments in Kurdistan, and disputed relations between Erbil and Baghdad.

Mr Hawrami said that the KDP emphasises the parliamentary system and expects the region's president to be directly elected by the people, in order to sustain a democratic experience also  adding that the solution to the differences between the Kurdish parties, is a national consensus and all efforts should be serviced toward the benefit of the people and Kurdistan.

He thanked the government and the people of Britain for their support to the people of Kurdistan in the face of terrorism.

For his part, the British Consul General highlighted the bravery and steadfastness of the Peshmerga for courageous fighting against Islamic State militia.
