The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani received the South Korean Ambassador, Jang Won-Jo, and his accompanying delegation to discuss the refugee situation, the current crisis, and to strengthen bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the Ambassador of South Korea he expressed his delight to visit the Kurdistan Region, and the purpose of this visit, is aimed at the delivery of the amount of aid and assistance by the South Korean government for refugees and displaced people who went to the Kurdistan Region to escape from the oppression of terrorism.
He also offer thanks and appreciation to the people and the Kurdistan Regional Government that were able in these difficult conditions experienced by the Kurdistan Region to receive and accommodate the refugees and help them and provide them with the necessary services. He praised the role of the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces fighting against the terrorist orgnisation, ISIS, and congratulated the victories achieved. He then highlighted the bilateral relations between the Kurdistan and South Korea, stressing the importance of the development and strengthening of relations between the two sides.
For his part, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region thanked the South Korean Ambassador for his visit and asked the Korean government for aid to distribute to the refugees and displaced persons in the Kurdistan Region. Also, stressing that the Kurdistan Regional Government shall consider attention to its relations with South Korea. Especially since South Korea has had a remarkable role in assisting the people and the government of Kurdistan at the beginning of the liberation of Iraq from the previous dictatorial regime.
The situation in the region and the latest developments and the victories of the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces against the terrorist organisation, ISIS, was another aspect of this meeting.
