President Barzani receives United Nations Special Representative Jan Kubis

President of the Kurdistan Region, Massoud Barzani, received the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jan Kubis, to discuss the internal situation surrounding Kurdistan, and the current problem on the Kurdistan Region’s borders.

During the meeting, Kubis expressed his thoughts regarding the recent protests that occurred in Kurdish cities. He stated his concerns over the intensification of the disagreement

He also emphasised on the necessity for stability, which is needed for the region, particularly during this time of economical unsteadiness, and with the war against the terrorist organisation ‘ISIS.’ He also mentioned that the UN is ready to help the Kurdish political parties to speed up the process for suitable resolutions.

The meeting ended with President Barzani thanking the Special Representative for his visit.
