President Barzani's Message on the 79th Anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Democratic Party

On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), I extend my warmest congratulations to all party cadres, members, supporters, and the people of Kurdistan. I also honor the families of the martyrs, the heroic Peshmerga, and all segments, groups, and components of Kurdistan. I wish you all peace, glory, and prosperity.

The establishment of the KDP on August 16, 1946, was a historical necessity to continue and sustain the struggle of the People of Kurddistan against the conspiracies of Kurdistan’s enemies and occupiers. These forces sought, with all their might, to break the will of the Kurdish people and silence their struggle. Since its inception, the party has served as a defender of the rights, identity, and existence of the People of Kurddistan, while advancing their democratic, patriotic, and national goals.

On this 79th anniversary, we reaffirm that the KDP has consistently carried the message of peace, promoting the principles of pluralism, brotherhood, and coexistence. The party has played a pioneering role at critical and decisive moments in the political history of Kurdistan and Iraq.

To the masses, supporters, and members of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, I say this: the KDP represents the cause and noble values of the People of Kurdistan. It embodies the Barzani path and the hope of Kurdistan. Therefore, all party members must honor the greatness of our party’s history and the sacrifices of our martyrs. They must fulfill their duty to the fullest by serving, rebuilding, and stabilizing Kurdistan. I urge all members to maintain sincere hope and unwavering determination, for as long as the party remains strong, Kurdistan will remain strong.
