Hawrami: “Wrong policies of the Change party(Gorran) worsened political situation in Kurdistan”

Head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office, Hemin Hawrami, welcomed the head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Kurdistan-Iraq, Sokol Kondi, to discuss humanitarian issues surrounding internally displaced peoples, refugees, and the latest political developments.

Hawrami extended his appreciation on behalf of the KDP leadership for the United Nations for their role in supporting the Kurds with humanitarian aid, and special assistance in helping to contain the refugee crisis.

The two sides discussed the political and military progress within the Kurdistan region, and on the instabilities between Baghdad and Erbil. Hawrami pointed to the current political crisis in Kurdistan and made the assertion that the cause of the crisis was the incorrect policies adapted by the Movement for Change Party,(Gorran), where they encouraged their party members to attack offices belonging to the Kurdistan Democratic Party; which saw two people become martyred.  Hawrami also declared that the KDP ceded many of its rights after the elections for the better of Kurdistan to maintain its stability.

Sokol voiced the condemnation of all acts of violence and riots, and that the attack on the office of a political party is not acceptable. He sent condolences to victims’ families, on behalf of the United Nations., and asked, on behalf of the UN, for all political parties to resolve their differences through negotiation and change.
