Hawrami says Kurdistan is in a "delicate phase" and must tread carefully with reality

Hemin Hawrami says Kurdistan is in a delicate phase due to the long-lasting tensions and internal disputes surrounding the political spectrum across the region.

The Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party's Foreign Relations Office made the comments during a meeting with the Consul General to Romania Mihaita Ene. They focused on the military developments where Kurdish Peshmergas are fighting against terrorists from the so-called Islamic State.

Mr Hawrami touched on the sensitive situation in the region where persistent problems are failing to resolve such as the presidential extension crisis and the outstanding budget cuts from the central government in Baghdad. He noted: "this delicate matter required dealing with events cautiously."

For his part, the Romanian consul added that his country and the European Union are looking at the Kurdistan issue with the utmost importance and their own roles in addressing the conflict with terrorists in addition to highlighting support for the displaced people in Kurdistan, figures currently standing at around two million.
