Barzani said that the KRG needs greater support from its friends while facing the Islamic State militants

Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani met Turkish Foreign Minister Feridun Sinirlioğlu

During the meeting, Mr Sinirlioğlu called for strengthening of relations between Erbil and Ankara while praising the Kurdistan Region’s stability in the Middle East.

Mr Sinirlioğlu is expected to meet President Massoud Barzani on Wednesday afternoon and then participate in a forum held by the Middle East Research Institute (MERI) in Erbil, where the Turkish official will deliver a speech.

The KRG PM Barzani congratulated Mr Sinirlioğlu on the success of the Turkish election, held earlier this week, and expressed a desire to see the next government cabinet formed soon and Ankara to continue to strengthen relations with the Kurdistan Region.

Barzani said that the KRG needs greater support from its friends while facing the Islamic State militants, and help with the economic crisis the region has faced for over a year.
