PM Barzani discuss the latest political and security crisis in the region with UN representative to Iraq

Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani received the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, Jan Kubis, to discuss the latest political and security crisis in the region.

During the meeting Kubis promised to put further pressure on the international community to increase assistance for Peshmerga forces.

Regarding the disputes between Erbil and Baghdad, Kubis encouraged the sides to continue negotiations.

Barzani acknowledged the UN and asked them to continue their positive role in Iraq.

Since the beginning of the war against the terrorist organisation, the Peshmerga forces have successfully countered the jihadist group, with KRG hosting a large number of refugees and IDPs.
