Partaking at the Berlin Foreign Policy Forum, Hemin Hawrami emphasised on the current political developments in the Kurdistan Region to an audience of government ministers and academics.
The Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Foreign Relations Office spoke in detail about the Peshmerga’s military progress during his meetings with various participants highlighting the extent of victories achieved by the Kurdish forces against terrorist organisation Islamic State.
Mr Hawrami touched on the KDP’s position that it is leading a wave of strategic advancements in order to ease escalating tensions and thanked allied governments for their support. He is the only representative of the Kurdish parties attending this forum.
On the sidelines of the conference Hawrami met with German and Luxembourg Foreign Ministers
At this year’s Berlin Foreign Policy Forum around 200 high-ranking politicians, government representatives, experts and journalists will gather to discuss core issues of German and European foreign policy. Around half of the participants will be from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the United States.
This year’s Forum will focus on Germany, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. “How can Europe develop a joint approach to dealing with refugees? How can we prevent relations between Russia and Europe from further deteriorating? What are the chances of a new regional order developing in the Middle East? And which opportunities could help diffuse the tense security situation in Asia?”
The Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will open the Forum on 10 November with a speech on perspectives of German and European foreign policy.
