Hawrami discusses bilateral relations with Syriza Party

Hemin Hawrami received a delegation from Greece's ruling Syriza Party in Kurdistan for talks aimed at issues of bilateral interest and strengthening ties to bring the relationship between  Kurdistan and Greek to a higher level.

The Greek delegation, consisting of Ms Sofia Tzitzikou, Coordinator of International Relations and Peace Affairs and Mr Thanasis Kourtis, Head of Middle East Desk, praised the role and victories of Peshmerga forces in recapturing lost ground during the war with ISIS and said they will seek to enhance bilateral relations with the Kurdistan region.

Mr Hawrami, the Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party's Foreign Relations Office, requested a consulate to be established in the region and called for support towards the war with terrorist organisation Islamic State. He conveyed congratulations to the Syriza Party on behalf of the KDP's leadership committee for their recent success in Greek elections.

SYRIZA party is a left-wing political party in Greece, originally founded in 2004 as a coalition of left-wing and radical left parties. It is the largest party in the Hellenic Parliament with party chairman Alexis Tsipras serving as Prime Minister of Greece from 26 January 2015 to 20 August 2015 and from 21 September 2015 to Present. And has 144 sets of parliament from 300 sets
