President Barzani Receives New German Ambassador to Iraq

Pirmam, October 8, 2025 — President Masoud Barzani received Germany’s new Ambassador to Iraq, Daniel Kreber, and his accompanying delegation.

Ambassador Kreber highlighted the historic ties between the people of Kurdistan and Germany, reaffirming his country’s solidarity with and support for the Kurdistan Region. He expressed his intention to deepen cooperation in security, economic coordination, and migration, noting the Kurdistan Region’s role as a source of stability and the importance of continued support.

President Barzani welcomed Ambassador Kreber and wished him success in his mission. He thanked Germany for its support to the Peshmerga during the fight against ISIS and voiced his support for further strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and Germany.

On terrorism, President Barzani noted that despite ISIS’s military defeat, the underlying causes of extremism persist. He stressed that addressing terrorism in Iraq, Syria, and the wider region requires greater scrutiny and enhanced coordination among all parties.

The meeting also covered the peace process in Türkiye, recent developments in Syria, and the Iraqi parliamentary elections.
