The Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Political Bureau Chief Fadhil Mirani says freedom for the people of Kurdistan has been the biggest long-standing principle of the party and it is striving to accomplish this objective since its founding.
His comments came during a meeting with the General Consul of Kuwait to Kurdistan, Dr Omar Al-Kandari, adding that the KDP is also eliminating injustice in the interests of the people of Kurdistan but encountered substantial problems, including war against the Islamic State terrorist organisation, the suspension of public sector salaries by the Iraqi government and oil budget disputes, which is causing an economic crisis in the region.
During the meeting, Mr Mirani said despite the existence of the crisis, the government of Kurdistan will do its best to accomodate refugees and displaced persons in the region.
Mr Mirani said President Barzani's visit to the Gulf region as having been successful and historic visit, especially his visit to Saudi Arabia and his meeting with King Salman.
For his part, the Kuwaiti Consul General stated the achievements of the Kurdistan Democratic Party represent an excellent model in the political struggle to achieve the goals of the people for freedom and democracy, and he stressed the support and assistance from the government of Kuwait to Kurdistan.
