KDP and British Labour Party strengthen bilateral relations at London meeting

A Kurdistan Democratic Party delegation consisting of Sherko Habeb, a member of KDP’s Foreign Relations Office, and Kamal Amedi, local committee member for London's branch, met with Ms Jo Greeting, head of International Relations at British Labour Party, and Nabila Sittar, a member of the international relations department, for talks on the latest political and military situation in the Kurdistan region.

This took place in the Labour Party's headquarters in London, where Ms Greeting welcomed delegation of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and expressed her delight in scheduling the meeting.

Mr Habeb thanked them for the warm reception, and then gave an explanation about the situation of Kurdistan and the political developments, referring to the tensions and relations between the Kurdish parties, between Baghdad and Erbil, and emphasised on the victories achieved by Peshmerga forces on against terrorist organisation Islamic State. In another aspect of the meeting, they discussed the Sinjar liberation operation, where the offensive was launched under the direct supervision of President Massoud Barzani.

He also gave thanks to the people and the British government for supporting the Peshmerga and stressed on the need for the continuation of this assistance, urging them to demand more from governments through Parliament to send weapons directly to the Peshmerga with other military supplies, as noted to rebuild the city of Sinjar, which asks a wide-scale reconstruction.

For their part, Ms Greeting thanked the KDP delegation for providing information about the political and military situation in the region and, pointing to the importance of the Kurdistan Peshmerga victories in its war with IS, she stressed the importance of bilateral relations between the two sides and ways of developing them.
