Hawrami exchanges views with Croatian ambassador to Iraq;

Hemin Hawrami received Croatia's Ambassador to Iraq Jerko Vukas for talks on strengthening bilateral relations with Kurdistan and focused on other political developments in the region.

During their meeting, Mr Hawrami, Head of KDP's Foreign Relations Office, expressed his praise for the help and support from the Croatian government to Kurdistan in its fight against terrorism, thanking them on behalf of President Massoud Barzani and the KDP leadership council.

Mr Vukas reaffirmed commitment from his country on developing diplomatic ties with the Kurdistan region

On the subject of fighting the terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS), Mr Vukas said Croatia is "ready to help Kurdistan militarily" as he offered his condolences for the families of victims, wishing for a quick recovery to the wounded civilians. He conveyed thanks from his government and lauded Mr Barzani for defending his land and democracy, and reflected on the "brave and courageous" Peshmerga forces for actively combatting against extremists.

The meeting concluded with both sides touching on bilateral relations, expressing satisfaction at the existing friendly relations, they viewed that the natural affinity between the two nations based on commonalities of history, culture, values and ethnicity should be carried forward for enhancing meaningful cooperation.
