President Masoud Barzani received Patrick Dorrel, the Ambassador of France to Iraq

On Wednesday, November 25, 2025, President Masoud Barzani received Patrick Dorrel, the Ambassador of France to Iraq, in Pirmam. The meeting was attended by Mr. Yann Braem, the French Consul General in Erbil. Ambassador Dorrel congratulated President Barzani on the successful elections and expressed hope that the next phase of dialogue and understanding among the region’s and Iraq’s political forces would be effective, paving the way for a government that meets the demands of the Iraqi people.

The discussion covered the overall situation in Iraq and the wider region, recent developments and political changes within Iraq’s political process, regional stability, the formation of the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet, and relations among Kurdish political forces and parties.

President Barzani thanked France and praised its historic role. He highlighted the recent understandings reached among Iraqi political forces following the completion of the parliamentary elections and clarified the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s position on forming the new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet through dialogue with other Kurdish political forces and parties.
