President Barzani Receives a United States Delegation.

President Barzani received a United States delegation headed by Mr. Joshua Harris, Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Gwendolyn Green, the U.S. Consul General in Erbil.

Mr. Harris congratulated President Barzani on the successful completion of the Iraqi parliamentary elections and thanked him for his efforts in ensuring the smooth conduct of the electoral process. He also discussed the steps that need to be taken by Iraqi political parties following the elections to form the new federal government, as well as relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the federal government in Baghdad.

President Barzani welcomed the delegation and outlined his views on the post-election phase in Iraq and the formation of the new cabinet, emphasizing that it should reflect the aspirations of all Iraqis and be grounded in constitutional principles. Regarding the Kurdistan Region, he underscored the importance of continued dialogue among all Kurdish political parties to form the next KRG cabinet.

The two sides also reviewed regional developments and challenges and agreed to promote and maintain strong relations between the United States, the Kurdistan Region, and Iraq.
