The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Participates in a Meeting Organized by Hungary’s Civil Alliance Party within the Framework of ICAPP and the Political Party Group of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Abdulsalam Ibrahim, Head of the Eurasia Desk at Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) Foreign Relations Office, participated in the 6th meeting of Asia–Europe Political Forum held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, from 27 to 29 November 2025.

In this forum, Asian and European political parties generally expressed their concerns about the war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. They stressed the need for political parties and governments of Asia and Europe to come closer, enhance cooperation and coordination, build relations that respect the specific characteristics of countries and nations—including systems of governance and cultural values—and work on common fields to work collectively across shared fields and integrate the needs of each other.

It is note worthy that Europe has increasingly moved away from conducting politics purely on narrow ideological grounds. Instead, greater opportunities are now being given to civil society, which plays a vital role in connecting different sides and enriching ideas and projects.

After the midday session of the first day of the conference, KDP's presentation was delivered. It highlighted the situation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, discussed our party’s success in the latest Iraqi federal parliamentary elections, and referred to the culture of coexistence among the various ethnic and religious communities in the Kurdistan Region. It also addressed the stability and security of the Kurdistan Region, the presence of consulates from Western, Eastern, and regional countries, as well as offices of international diplomatic organizations. Additionally, it referenced the internally displaced persons from other parts of Iraq and the Syrian refugees residing in the Kurdistan Region and the services KRG providing to them over years.

In conclusion, the presentation emphasized the role of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the governance of the Kurdistan Region and the efforts of KDP's leadership to form the new government in Baghdad and to rectify the political process in Iraq.
