The Head of Kurdistan Democratic Party's Foreign Relations Office Hemin Hawrami has said President Massoud Barzani's impending meeting with all political parties is in order to find appropriate solutions to the current economic crisis in the Kurdistan region, in addition to exchanging views and ideas on the presidency Issue.
Speaking at a meeting with the Head of the UN Regional Representation Office(UNAMI) in Erbil, Sokol Kondi, Mr Hawrami said the aim of the meeting was to discuss ways to exit out of a serious financial difficulty that has gripped the Kurdish economy since late 2014, after the central government in Baghdad froze the Kurdistan Regional Government´s budget.
Mr Hawrami gave his own perception to the financial hardship facing the Kurdistan region, that while it is already placed with a weighty burden of hosting a huge number of refugees and internally displaced people (IDP), they require assistance and called on the UN to provide more support.
For his part, Mr Kondi thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and expressed admiration of the people for preserving democracy and peace. On the subject of IDPs, he said that the UN will rally on members to make adequate preparation to assist with the colossal issues.
