Hawrami in Washington for talks on Kurdistan with US Representatives

Within the framework of building relations on behalf of the Kurdistan Democratic Party and vying for support on Kurdish issues, Hemin Hawrami is visiting the United States to participate in meetings with members of the US Congress.

The Head of KDP's Foreign Relations Office discussed various issues in separate meetings in Washington with Randall Hultgren, US Representative for Illinois's 14th Congressional District and Jeff Fortonberry, Representative for Nebraska 1st District. They conversed on the latest political and military developments in Kurdistan.

Mr Hawrami highlighted the victories by Peshmerga forces and pointed to the ongoing battles against the so-called Islamic State terrorist organisation. He also reflected on the current financial hardship facing the region and on the potential Kurdish referendum.

The two sides focused on the relations between Erbil and Baghdad and the political parties in Kurdistan where Mr Hawrami gave an explanation about the adopted policy of the KDP on ways to resolve differences through dialogue and understanding.

For their part, both members of the US Congress praised the role of Kurdistan and its Peshmerga forces for their achievements in the war ISIS and stressed that the Kurdistan will continue to receive support from the United States.
