As part of his diplomatic tour of the United States, Hemin Hawrami visited the Brookings Institution in Washington for an analytical discussion with Ken Pollack and emphasised current relations between the US and Kurdistan.

During their meeting, Mr Hawrami mentioned the current developments in the Kurdistan region on both political and military aspects where he said the region has begun to implement measures to address domestic issues such as the economic crisis, the war against terrorism, and impending process of a Kurdistan referendum.

Mr Pollack, who is an expert on Middle Eastern political-military affairs, expressed his admiration for the handling of internally displaced people in the Kurdistan region and conveyed his congratulations to Peshmerga forces for successfully defending freedom and protecting citizens in fighting against ISIS extremists. He reflected on the problems the region is facing and said cooperation between the KRG and central government in Baghdad is key to resolving all outstanding issues.
