As part of his diplomatic mission to the United States, head of KDP's Foreign Relations Office, Hemin Hawrami, briefed a number of senior academics and senior researchers from different think thanks at the Foundation for Defending Democracies (FDD).
During the meeting, they discused the current issues in the Kurdistan region on political and military grounds, where Hawrami mentioned the region has initiated measures to address regional predicaments.
He added that the KDP leadership aim to ease tensions on all fronts on democratic principles. He also noted that President Massoud Barzani will begin plans for independence the over the next months, allowing democracy to prevail as the people of Kurdistan will decide on this matter.
Mr Hawrami highlighted the valour of Peshmerga forces and pointed to the ongoing battles against the terrorist group, so-called Islamic State.
