President Barzani Receives Delegation from the Chinese Communist Party

On Monday, December 15, 2025, in Pirmam, President Masoud Barzani received a Chinese delegation comprising Minister Jin Xin, Assistant Minister of International Relations Department of the Chinese Communist Party; Ambassador Cui Wei, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Iraq; and Mr. Liu Jun, the Chinese Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.

The delegation conveyed their appreciation for the visit and, on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party, congratulated President Barzani and the Kurdistan Democratic Party on their victory in the recent Iraqi parliamentary elections, in which they secured more than one million votes and emerged as the leading party across Iraq.

The discussions underscored the Kurdistan Region’s important role and its longstanding, historic ties with the Chinese Communist Party. The delegation expressed the People’s Republic of China’s desire to strengthen and deepen relations—particularly in the economic, commercial, and cultural fields—highlighting strong interest in advancing these ties. They also reaffirmed China’s support for the Kurdistan Region.

President Barzani warmly welcomed the delegation, expressing his respect and appreciation for the Chinese people, their civilization, and their history. He emphasized the importance of relations between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Chinese Communist Party, as well as between the Kurdistan Region and China, and voiced hope for their continued expansion and further strengthening.

The two sides also discussed the ratification of the Iraqi parliamentary election results, the process of forming the new federal government, and the broader political process in Iraq.
