Barzani meets Turkish FM to discuss relations

President of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani met with Turkey's Foreign Minister Metluv Cavusoglu on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference to discuss bilateral relations and other areas of mutual concern.

The two sides exchanged views on the political challenges facing both their regions, focusing on the scale of migrants, economic ties and the ongoing war against the so-called Islamic State terrorist group. They touched on the situation on the front-lines and the potential liberation of Mosul, after a much-anticipated counter-offensive by military forces to retake Mosul from ISIS has been repeatedly postponed because they are tied down in fighting elsewhere.
